Friends of Lake Leelanau, an independent public foundation, was established to protect the waters of Lake Leelanau in perpetuity. Friends accomplishes this goal through an endowment, the income from which is distributed to organizations focused on maintaining and improving the aquatic health of Lake Leelanau.

Friends holds quarterly board and investment committee meetings. Grant requests must be submitted by April 6, 2026.
June 18, 2026: Friends' Summer Social
If you are a supporter of Friends, please plan to join us to say hello to your friends and neighbors and celebrate the arrival of summer. Friends’ Summer Social will be held at Boathouse Vineyards from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday, June 18th. Boathouse Vineyards is located at 115 Saint Mary’s Street in Lake Leelanau. There is no admission charge. Kindly RSVP to carol@friendsoflakeleelanau.org. This annual event is co-hosted by Friends of Lake Leelanau and the Lake Leelanau Lake Association.
